Buddy Adams

My name is Buddy Adams, I was born in Houston, then moved to Pinehurst in 1969, where my father was born and raised. I attended school in Magnolia until 1978. Throughout high school, I was a heavy equipment operator for my dad who was developing Carriage Hills, Country Forest, Westwood and Glenmont Subdivisions. After school, I left the construction industry for the oil field. I began my career as a rough neck, then was promoted to a derrick hand with T & L Drilling. After a brief stay on land, I became very interested in offshore drilling and went to work for KeyDrill where I was eventually promoted to assistant rig up superintendent. The mechanics of drilling interested me, so I joined StrataBit which was a new, innovative company that developed the man-made diamond technologies used in oil well drilling. In the late 80's, the oil field was struggling, so I returned to Magnolia and started Road Construction Specialist and began developing subdivisions just like my father had. Rolling Forest and Champions Glen were the first two neighborhoods I began building roads for. I spent many years in the construction industry, developing subdivisions, building roads and house pads, digging ponds and lakes. I ended this portion of the construction business with Remington Forest and Thousand Oaks Subdivisions. In 2008, my crew and I went to Midland, Texas to excavate the city landfill which was approximately 6 million yards of material. After completion, the oil field industry renewed and I returned home to start Precise Drilling Concepts, LLC. This company designed, developed and manufactured polycrystalline diamond drill bits. Our office was in Pinehurst, however, we spent the majority of our time in South Texas. After the oil industry slowed down again in 2016, I decided to follow my “gut” and go back to cooking BBQ! July of 2017, The Meating Place began in a little establishment in front of my PDC office. We hired local, loved our community and continued to grow. We moved to our new location next to MWHS in 2020, where our youngest daughter is currently a senior! Even through covid, we were able to stay open and serve. My passion is people, community and BBQ! My wife also served the community through teaching at Magnolia Elementary for 12 years and all of our seven children attended Magnolia schools! We love this town, even through the growth!
